The Windsor Justice Court hears traffic matter including charges of speeding and other violations of the New York State Vehicle & Traffic law. Their contact phone number is (607) 655-1973 and office hours are Mondays from 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm and Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 12pm. To answer your ticket, follow the instructions found on the ticket itself or call the court to speak with the Clerk about local policies. Remember that you must respond to the violation you were charged with in a timely manner or a default judgment of guilty may be entered on your behalf. A default judgment or plea of guilty will make you responsible for all applicable court fines, surcharges, points, assessment fees (if you have accumulated a certain amount of points for the current or past violations), and other penalties the court sees fit to impose. Only pleading not guilty will give you the opportunity to contest the case in court or have an attorney negotiate with the court and local prosecutors to secure an offer of a lesser charge which can save you hundreds of dollars and keep your license clean. If you have already plead guilty to your ticket, don't worry - it is possible to petition the court that they reconsider the guilty plea you entered and, depending on circumstance, the court will allow your case to be reconsidered. This petition is called a writ of error coram nobis - ask us about details.
